Intermediate Wheel: Lidded Vessels with Kristen Bercier

$225.00

This 4-week course will focus on the techniques needed to create inset, flange, and cap-style lids. Building on your existing wheel-throwing skills, this class will emphasize precision fitting and refining lid-and-vessel relationships to create functional, well-balanced pieces. We will also cover trimming, finishing techniques, and considerations for glazing lidded forms.

This class is for intermediate students who can consistently center and throw cylinders and have experience with basic shaping techniques such as bellying and collaring.

This course consists of four two-hour weekly sessions.

This class is open to ages 14 and up.

• Class fees cover approximately 12 pounds of clay, along with glazes and firing services. Additional clay can be purchased through your teacher during class hours only. (Additional fees apply to pieces over 6” in length, width, or height.)

• Students are encouraged to use throwing bats for this class, which are available for purchase at the studio.

•Studio tools will be provided during class. Higher-quality tools will also be available for purchase at the studio.

Open Studio operates seven days a week from 9 AM to 9 PM, except during scheduled classes. There will also be a one-hour closure before and after each class.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes for safety.

It’s essential to tie back or secure long hair, and we recommend having short nails for wheel throwing.

• Students are encouraged to bring their own aprons and hand towels to class.

• Students are encouraged to use Open Studio time between classes for additional practice.

This class is designed for adults. Minors ages 14-17 are welcome to participate with a completed waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Please email hello@makersandclay.com if you are interested in enrolling a 14-17 year old in class.
